Product Description:

The ALM is a flexible high speed work station designed to process or test components individually or in batch mode.

  • Flexible, platform:  An overhead gantry supports the high speed linear servo motor for maximum flexibility.  The powerful motor can pick & place components or transport an integrated process to the components.
  • Unlimited configurations:  Components can be input to the ALM from all four sides, on a rotary table, through the machine, or across the machine.  Other motor types, additional motors, or dual carriages can be added or replaced on the ALM to best suit the application.
  • Unlimited processes:  Input / Output examples include:  Manual load / unload, tape & reel, bulk, sort bins, vibratory feed, trays, conveyors, tube stackers.  Processes examples include: Packaging, assembly, electrical testing, vision inspection, mechanical testing, laser, and ink marking.
  • Quick change-out:  Alignment tooling is available that allows the user to snap complete input / output / process modules in with a single fastener, and one utility manifold.  The MMI comes pre-programmed for pull-down select change-over.
  • Extremely compact:   The ALM can be removed from it’s cabinet storage base (shown in photo) and placed on a table, or into an existing process.
  • Communications:  Opto-isolated serial / parallel, or Ethernet communications are available.
  • Safe:  Full-featured safety electronics, and safety enclosure are standard.
  • User friendly:  A color graphic LCD touchscreen MMI on an ergonomic arm is standard.

Typical Applications:

The flexibility of the ALM is unlimited.  Following are example applications.

  • Assembly:  Precise pick & place of multiple components.  Conveyor input / output through the machine or side-to-side.
  • Laser marking:   Placement of a component under a marking head.  Full physical and electrical integration with the optics and controls of the laser, including safety regulations.

  • Vision lead or mark inspection:  Integration of a vision system.  Presentation of the device to an inspection nest and integration of the cameras and lighting.
  • Packaging:   Placement of devices into tape & reel, tubes, or waffle packs.
  • Electrical test:  Precise pick & place of components to test contactor(s) and sorting to bulk grading bins.

MTS

Product Description:

The MTS is a flexible work station designed to process or test components individually or in batch mode.

  • Simple to use:  The user places a component onto a shuttle stage and presses the footpedal.  The machine automatically clamps the component and shuttles it into a safety enclosure.
  • Multiple functions per batch:  Several operations of processing and/or testing are sequenced using a PLC for maximum flexibility.
  • Communications:  Opto-isolated interface communicates multiple Start Of Test / End Of Test signals, Abort, and other signals.
  • Extremely compact:   Designed as a table top work station.  Utilities (CDA, Electrical, Communications, Control knobs) are on a rear utility panel, Control electronics/pneumatics are in a compartment under the machine.
  • Safe:  Lexan cover encloses all motion, but is clear for viewing operation, and has a profiled opening to eliminate pinch points.
  • Cost effective:  The MTS uses proven, standard technology for simplicity and to keep machine cost minimized.
  • User friendly:  A simple LCD or a more complex PC based user interface can be integrated with the machine.

Typical Applications:

The flexibility of the MTS is unlimited.  Typical applications combine many individual operations into a batch sequence.  Following are examples of individual operations.

  • Assembly placement:  Precise insertion and placement of parts is performed using linear or rotary actuators, including servo, stepper, or pneumatics.
  • Assembly bonding:  Bonding operations such as epoxy application, UV cure, soldering, heating, and pressing.
  • Mechanical Testing:   Mechanical instruments such as micrometers, force gages, or gage pins can be integrated.
  • Electrical test contacting:  The ALM shuttle stage is large enough to accommodate an active contactor that can be de-activated for easy insertion, yet activated during processing.
  • Test cable or probe insertion:  Precision linear guides can insert probes or cables into components to provide testing or measurement capability.
  • Tester activation:  Full featured communications is facilitated by either the PLC or by Peak Automation opto-isolation circuits.  The MTS can be controlled or sequenced externally by a tester.
  • Vision Inspection:   Vision inspection can be integrated, ranging from simple sensors to sophisticated cameras an lighting

Vision Inspection Stations

Product Description:

VISTA vision inspection stations are a family of standard platforms that are designed to facilitate vision inspection.

  • Tooling:  Tooling is custom designed for the subject to be inspected, so that it is precisely and repeatably positioned for the camera.
  • Camera:  A camera mounting system will be used to optimally capture the image for inspection.
  • Lighting:  Any or several different methods of lighting can be designed into the stations.  Different stations are available for different lighting needs
  • Flexibility:  All of the above can be designed to be either changed out, or easily adjusted for different set-ups.
  • Controls:  Vision Inspection controls can be integrated including, part-in-position detectors, position sensors, or component type detectors
  • User Interface:  All vision systems can be seamlessly integrated with user interfaces for production or engineering functions, password protection, data logging, statistics, etc.
  • Additional Input / Output:  All vision systems can be with additional Inputs for external triggering, integration with other machines, and additional Outputs for printers, and network communications.
  • Extremely compact:   Designed as table top work stations.  Never significantly larger than the camera system or component requires.
  • Enclosed:  All stations have light tight enclosures available if required.

Typical Applications:

  • Individual component inspection:  Stations can be tooled for manual or automatic placement of individual components in exact and repeatable locations for vision inspection.  Tooling kits can be interchangeable and pinned to eliminate adjustment.
  • Multiple component inspection:  Stations can be tooled for trays or other multi-component fixtures.  The vision can inspect multiple components in one snapshot or the fixtures or camera can be indexed manually or automatically to inspect individual components.
  • Counting:  Large trays of components can be accommodated by the stations, and the vision can count the number and type of components in the tray.
  • Wafer inspection:   Our Wafer Inspection station can accommodate up to 8” wafers on frames, and is detent adjustable for other wafer sizes.
  • OCR - Optical Character Recognition:   Vision systems can be integrated that perform OCR on wafers, reading SEMI or other character types.
  • Bar code reading:   Bar Code reading and printing are available.
